Welcome to Planet Shark - The Exhibition
The joint vision of OceanZoo and Grande Exhibitions - Creators of museum quality traveling exhibitions, Planet Shark - Predator or Prey has been concieved to create awareness and educate the world in the importance of sharks and the role they play in our ecosystems. The exhibition presents facts, dispels myths, educates about shark conservation and aims to create empathy for one of the most misunderstood and maligned animals on earth.

Three years in the planning, Planet Shark - Predator or Prey is the most confronting and comprehensive shark exhibition to ever tour the world. It is an exhibition that challenges our fears, misunderstandings and ignorance on the plight of the world’s most feared predator - the shark.

Bringing a traveling exhibition of this depth and scale to fruition would not be possible without the vision and tireless input of many people sharing the one passion. We have been very fortunate that the partnership of OceanZoo and Grande Exhibitions has yielded the necessary knowledge and talents.

The directors of OceanZoo, Craig Thorburn and Mike Bhana first approached Bruce Peterson, director and owner of Grande Exhibitions, a number of years ago with the idea to create an exhibition on ‘all things sharks’. Mike and Craig shared a great vision for Planet Shark - Predator or Prey and needed a highly skilled exhibition creation and production company with international experience to give life to their concept.

After a year of discussions, modeling and refining, the button was pressed to move ahead with the project. All knew the pros and cons of creating a shark experience without live sharks. Sharks evoke an emotion like no other animal. Even the word “SHARK” is arguably unparalleled for an emotive reaction. They are feared, admired, misunderstood and importantly are a “go to” subject for museums and aquariums when one needs to attract large numbers of visitors. Most people have a fascination with sharks – be it the good, the bad and the ugly! Many a morbid fascination relating to shark attacks. Since touring live sharks within Planet Shark - Predator or Prey is simply impossible to do, the challenge would be, how to design and create an out of water shark experience that was highly credible, captivating, educational and able to entertain young and old alike.
We proudly believe this has been well and truly realised.
